Welcome to the Isle of Skye

The Isle of Skye is some fifty miles long and at her narrowest a mere four miles wide and lies off the northwest coast of Scotland and attracts thousands of visitors each year to her shores.

A magic and mystical island full of wonder like a floating dream anchored off the coast of mainland Scotland.

In summer and in winter the island portrays a majestic beauty as she reflects each seasons. Numerous visitors are touched by the sheer magic of Skye and return year on year for short breaks.

The island is steeped in Scottish history and the great highland clans of MacDonald and MacLeod have provided a legacy of fact and legend, which is hard to better anywhere in the western isles.

Bonnie Prince Charlie visited Skye and was concealed and helped by Flora MacDonald and the Skye boat song written by Sir Harold Boulton is known throughout many parts of the world.

Speed bonnie boat like a bird on the wing,
Onward, the sailors cry:
Carry the lad that's born to be king,
Over the sea to Skye.

Loud the winds howl, loud the waves roar,
Thunderclaps rend the air;
Baffled our foes stand by the shore,
Follow they will not dare.

But these days you can and indeed must 'follow' either by ferry from Mallaig to Armadale, Skye, or over the bridge to Skye. The island is a place of beauty and her landscapes are breath taking, around every corner you will find something new and wondrous to see.

So take the time to visit Skye and be 'Touched by the magic' of this enchanted Isle.
